The team of Volunteers are an important part of the Kathleen & May family who undertake a wide variety of activities that help keep things ship shape – from engine and hull maintenance to guiding people around the ship, supporting events and admin support, there’s plenty of ways to get involved. Here are some reasons why people volunteer:

  • It is a chance to meet people
  • You can help secure the future of the Kathleen & May
  • You can help visitors of all ages
  • You can learn new things
  • You can bring new skills to the team
  • You can join a fantastic team
  • You can gain valuable work experience

We have a wide variety of roles to suit different interests, time availability and skills so if you would like to get involved please contact our Volunteer Co-Ordinator Sue Shrimpton by email at kathleenandmay1900@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Support and Sponsorship

Our vision is to develop the Kathleen & May into a world-class visitor attraction and centre of learning and enable current and future generations to understand, celebrate and learn from our ship-building and maritime heritage.

We are developing plans to take the Kathleen & May to communities across the UK and Ireland, and to participate in regional and national events such as the 2016 centenary of the Battle of Jutland.

The Kathleen & May Heritage Trust is working with her current owner to raise the funds required to place her in a charitable trust for the public benefit so that we can safeguard her place in the education and cultural enrichment of future generations.

Although we are approaching major sources of public and private funding, we need everyone to get involved and demonstrate their commitment to her future, whether as advisors, donors or advocates of this illustrious example of our maritime past.

If you would like to learn more about how you can get involved, please visit us onboard or contact us by email: kathleenandmay1900@gmail.com

Keep an eye out from the crow’s nest!

We are keen to pass on our expertise in wooden ship building/maintenance as well as sailing and event planning.

Contact us if you would like to get involved (open to individuals / organisations).
